Straight Up I-75 From Acworth

Cartersville is the Bartow County seat, 30120 and 30121, roughly fifteen miles north of Acworth on I-75. That makes it a normal run for our crews rather than a special trip, and it is why Bartow shows up on our schedule as often as Cobb does.

Downtown sits around the depot and Main Street, with the Booth Western Art Museum and Tellus a few minutes out. Red Top Mountain and Lake Allatoona are southeast, Euharlee and the Etowah River west, Emerson and Adairsville at either end of the county.

Red Top and the Allatoona Shoreline

The south end of Bartow runs down into Lake Allatoona and Red Top Mountain State Park, and the lots along there are wooded, sloped and mostly a water problem wearing a landscape costume. Runoff off the roof and the driveway has to be caught and carried before it reaches the bank, or the bank goes into the lake a little at a time.

Terraced walls to break the fall, stone steps down the grade to the dock path, and drainage that daylights well short of the shoreline. Allatoona is a Corps of Engineers lake and the shoreline is managed, so the work gets planned back from that line before anyone quotes it.

Bartow Lots Run Big

Outside the city limits Bartow goes rural fast. Pasture edges, fence lines that have not been cleared in years, old outbuildings, and pines dropping straw by the truckload. Property cleanups out here are a truck-and-trailer job, not a leaf blower.

Brush, storm debris, old fencing, appliances, furniture, whatever is stacked behind the barn. We bring the labor and the trailer, load it, and it leaves with us. We do not rake it to the road and call it done, because in Bartow there is often nobody coming to pick that pile up.

Commercial Along the Highway

The corridor along US 41 and the I-75 exits carries most of the county's business frontage: retail strips, offices, churches, warehouses and distribution sites. Grounds work on a property like that is really about the first thirty feet a customer sees from the road.
